Samaritans: 116 123

Welcome to Connect & Support UK — a free UK mental-health app. To speak to someone right now, swipe to the Crisis tab in the bottom navigation. For everything else, the welcome content below explains what the app does.

Welcome to Connect & Support UK

A free UK app for the harder days and the quieter ones. Built with mental-health professionals, not Big Tech. No ads. No trackers. Free forever.

What's inside

  • Crisis support, calming exercises, and helplines are free forever. Always have been, always will be.

For moments of crisis

  • One-tap calls to Samaritans (116 123), NHS 111 (press 2 for mental-health), Shout (text 85258), Papyrus HOPELINE247, and 999.
  • An urgent-services map showing the nearest in-person crisis support — drop-ins, NHS trusts, charities — using your location or any area you search.
  • Stay With Me — a low-sensory guided wait for panic or overwhelm. Optional ambient sound, gentle copy, you set how long. Free forever.
  • A clear, calming layout so you can find what you need without scrolling through ads or pop-ups.

For grounding and calming down

  • 5 breathing patterns — Physiological Sigh, 4-7-8, Box, Coherent, and Calm — each suited to a different moment.
  • 6 grounding techniques for anxiety, panic, dissociation, flashbacks, and feeling unreal.
  • 20 long-form calming sounds — rain, ocean, fireplace, gong, Tibetan bowl, hand pan, and more.
  • 12 sound-healing journeys for recovery, sleep, mornings, grief, and difficult evenings (Premium).
  • Sleep timer that gently fades any sound to silence at 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes (Premium).
  • Soundscape Mixer — layer up to 3 sounds and save your own named mixes (Premium).
  • Sleep routines — Wind-Down (10 min, Premium), Sleep Reset (25 min, Premium), and Midnight Panic for waking at 3am (free forever).
  • Sleep School — an 8-week structured programme modelled on NHS CBT-I. Days 1–3 free to preview, full course Premium.

For the longer road

No sign-in. No email needed. Everything below works the moment you open the app, and saves only to this device.

  • The NHS-recognised Stanley-Brown Safety Plan — fill it in when you're well, read it when you're not. Printable.
  • Wellbeing Passport — a “who I am, what helps me” document you can share with a clinician, carer, or anyone who needs to know how to support you.
  • ACE + Resilience self-check — a private, on-device screening of childhood experiences and the protective factors that helped you through, with UK referral routes if you'd like to talk to someone.
  • Over 50 evidence-based skills from CBT, DBT, ACT, MBSR, and trauma-informed practice — each one cited to its clinical source.
  • A journal and mood check-ins that stay only on your device — now with optional emotional-vocabulary chips (“grounded”, “scattered”, “heavy”, “disconnected”) and contributor tags (poor sleep, work, loneliness, social media…) to capture the day's shape more accurately.
  • Pattern noticing — gentle observations across your check-ins and sleep diary, like “your mood looks lower on Sundays” or “you've climbed back from a low patch”. Premium picks up trigger + vocabulary patterns too. Computed on your phone; nothing leaves the device. (Premium for the deeper layer.)
  • Clinician Letterbox — one-tap email of your Safety Plan, Wellbeing Passport, and 4-week mood summary as a single typeset PDF, to your GP or therapist. The plans themselves stay free to print. (Premium for the combined PDF + email.)
  • Personal Session Presets — save your favourite Stay With Me sessions and Soundscape Mixes as one-tap launchers. (Premium.)

A small Premium tier funds the work — sound-healing journeys, the Soundscape Mixer, sleep routines, the 8-week Sleep School, the sleep-fade timer, Personal Session Presets, the Clinician Letterbox, pattern noticing across your check-ins, and a few deeper skills. Everything else above is free forever — and always will be. Crisis support, Stay With Me, Midnight Panic, helplines and breathing are never paywalled.

Why this app exists

Built from years working alongside people across the UK in their hardest moments — crisis, burnout, isolation, anxiety, grief. The gap was rarely a shortage of help; it was the distance between needing help and reaching it. Connect & Support UK closes that gap: one place, free, no login wall in the way of a crisis line.

Wherever you are in the UK

If you're somewhere new — visiting, travelling, studying, between addresses — the Locationtab uses your phone's location (only while you're looking at the screen) to surface mental-health and crisis services near you: NHS trusts, charities, helplines, drop-ins. Tap a pin for the phone number, hours, and directions. You can also pan and search anywhere in the UK without sharing your location.

Your data stays on your device

  • Anything you write — Safety Plan, journal, ACE answers, mood check-ins, Wellbeing Passport — stays on this device. It never reaches our servers.
  • No advertising trackers. No Google Analytics. No Meta Pixel. None.
  • No account required to use crisis support, sounds, or grounding tools.
  • You can export everything as a file, or delete every byte we hold, from Me → Account & data in one tap.

Using a screen reader, voice control, or large text? See our accessibility statement.

Gentle nudges, only when you're still

On iPhone (and via the step data your Apple Watch already shares with it), Connect & Support can tell when you've been still for a long stretch — at your desk, on the sofa, in bed. Nothing else is collected: no heart-rate, no location, no third-party share.

After 90 minutes of stillness, you might see a quiet card — “Fancy a stretch?”— with a 60-second movement or breathing prompt. Tap it, dismiss it, or ignore it entirely. No streaks, no shame, no nudge if you're walking, working out, or away from your phone.

Available now on the iPhone app. Watch heart-rate awareness (HRV-based) is a planned addition for a future release.

Quick Exit

If you need to leave the app suddenly — for your privacy, your safety, or just because the moment passes — tap Quick Exitat the top of any screen. The app closes to a neutral page and clears its history so it can't be opened again with a swipe back.

Finding your way around

Everything in the app is in the five tabs at the bottom of the screen:

  • Home — this page.
  • Calm — breathing, grounding, sounds, journeys, Safety Plan, Wellbeing Passport.
  • Crisis — every UK helpline, one tap to call. Always one tap away.
  • Location — mental-health and crisis services near you, anywhere in the UK.
  • Me — journal, mood check-ins, ACE check-in, your data, settings.

Whoever you are

Whether you're struggling yourself, supporting someone close, or just trying to look after your mental wellbeing alongside everything else — Connect & Support UK is here when you need it.

You don't have to do this alone.
